MetaMask Staking has exited its Ethereum validator node operating within the Lido protocol to protect customer assets. This move is a precautionary measure taken following an investigation into an infrastructure breach. The exit may result in forfeiting some staking rewards and could incur downtime penalties due to the subsequent decommissioning of the validator node. The relevant validator node has begun the exit process, which is expected to be completed by October 7, 2026, at the latest, although not all withdrawals have been finalized. stETH holders do not need to take any action.
