Ripple Expands Support for XRP and RLUSD for AI Payments
Ripple has announced new tools that will facilitate automatic payments using XRP and RLUSD for artificial intelligence applications. The company has added support for the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), developed by Stripe and Tempo, to the new version of its AI starter kit for the XRP Ledger. The new system aims to allow AI agents to make payments for online services without human intervention. For example, when an AI application wants to access a paid data source, the data provider informs the AI agent of the service fee, and the AI agent automatically processes the payment. With the new tools, XRP or Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin RLUSD can be used for such transactions. MPP is designed to enable AI agents to make automatic and recurring payments for services on the internet. Ripple's update facilitates the use of XRP and RLUSD within this system. Additionally, the new developer kit includes support for the Open Wallet Standard, which allows wallets across different blockchains to be managed through a single system. RippleX Product Manager Jazzi Cooper explained the company's goal as "making XRP and RLUSD top-tier options wherever developers build applications." Ripple is moving towards new internet infrastructures where AI applications can make payments.
