Permission Delegation Change on XRP Ledger May Come into Effect on October 5, 2026
The timeline for the activation of the Permission Delegation change in the XRP community has been determined. PermissionDelegationV1_1 entered a two-week activation process after receiving 29 approval votes on September 21, 2026. To be implemented as early as October 5, 2026, at 11:18 UTC, the support from validators needs to remain above 80%. If the support rate falls below this level, the change will be rejected, and the 14-day countdown will restart. PermissionDelegationV1_1 is included in the xrpld 3.3.0 release package and is based on the XLS 75 technical standard. Permission Delegation allows an account to delegate certain permissions to other accounts. This structure can help institutions issuing regulated digital assets to divide their operations among different teams. Lauren Berta, Ripple's stablecoin product lead, stated that this feature could provide an important operational model for RLUSD. Additionally, the Permission Delegation structure allows for the delegation of certain permissions without relinquishing full control of the issuing account. Mayukha Vadari, a software engineer at RippleX, emphasized that there are also use cases for retail users. Another date the XRP community is following is the Ripple Swell event, which is planned to take place from October 27 to 29, 2026.
