Ministry of Justice launches free course on bitcoin and crypto asset tracking open to all Brazilians
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) launched a new free course on tracking bitcoin and crypto assets this Thursday (24). The training aimed at Brazilians teaches methods for tracking crimes committed using bitcoin and self-custody wallets.
The classes available on the government platform of the National School of Public Administration (Enap) allow any citizen to access the free educational material during the enrollment process.
The curriculum content focuses on the daily work of public security agents and members of the Judiciary. This educational project also attracts civilian professionals interested in recovering funds diverted by cybercriminal gangs. (Photo/ENAP).
Tracking bitcoin and concepts of blockchain technology
The creators of the training divided the learning into four thematic modules with practical training objectives. The first block of studies addresses the primary concepts of currencies and the exact functions of blockchain technology.
Enrolled students discover the steps of financial transactions executed within a decentralized network without central control. Such theoretical knowledge serves as a structural foundation for the operational phases covered in the remainder of the training planned by the federal government.
The second module of the curriculum delves into the legal aspects and regulatory norms of the sector spread across the world. Experts from the Public Ministry and courts detail the legal landscape in Brazil in parallel with the rules imposed abroad.
Investigation techniques and alienation of crypto assets conclude the course
The third part of the course teaches practical tactics for identifying the use of cryptocurrencies in fraud and currency evasion. Criminal investigators learn to follow the money trail in wallets hosted by suspects under police monitoring.
The penultimate stage of the program focuses on the operational procedures of the country's financial repression and control forces. Field officers receive precise instructions on the legal maneuvers for searching and seizing balances held in digital format.
This fourth and final module guides public authorities on the management of all assets confiscated during field operations. The final roadmap explains the procedural phases necessary for the judicial alienation of the amount under the institutional custody of government agents.
Course load and certification rules
The online training schedule requires a workload of thirty hours of continuous dedication from the enrolled student. All content provided by the authorities remains available for thirty consecutive days after the registration confirmation on the website.
Interested individuals must register on the electronic portal of the agency at any time to start the journey. Access to study materials and supporting videos occurs immediately after the account is created and released.
The standard language of the entire training project for law enforcement is Portuguese. Finally, students who pass all phases receive a completion certificate validated by the public bodies responsible for offering the class.
