Brazilian Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Gang, Arrest 13 and Freeze Nearly $200 Million in Assets
Brazilian police have dismantled a drug trafficking gang that has smuggled over 6.5 tons of cocaine to Europe since 2021. The gang used cryptocurrency to launder money and conceal drug transaction funds. The operation covered regions including São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, and Espírito Santo, resulting in 13 preventive arrests and 44 searches and seizures. The court ordered the seizure of assets and the freezing of properties valued at up to 1 billion reais (approximately $196 million).
