BlackRock Transfers 54,096 ETH and 2,015 BTC to Coinbase Prime
BlackRock has transferred 54,096 ETH worth $131.7 million and 2,015 BTC valued at $153.8 million to Coinbase Prime, totaling $285.5 million. The transfers were recorded by the analytics platform Lookonchain. Moving cryptocurrencies to exchange infrastructure may be related to portfolio reorganization or liquidity management, and does not necessarily indicate a sale. BlackRock has previously made similar transfers that did not always result in sales. The firm primarily manages cryptocurrencies through ETF funds, including the iShares Bitcoin Trust and iShares Ethereum Trust, holding over 780,000 BTC and 3 million ETH, respectively. The transfer of 54,096 ETH and 2,015 BTC does not automatically imply a reduction in ETF assets. It is important to distinguish transfers from sales, and current concerns about BlackRock withdrawing from the cryptocurrency market are exaggerated.
