Bank of Japan Governor Indicates Continued Interest Rate Hikes
Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda stated that the central bank will continue to raise interest rates based on economic, price, and financial conditions. The governor emphasized the need to closely monitor the impacts from the Middle East, fluctuations in the yen, and demand for artificial intelligence. The Bank of Japan will consider adjusting the timing and pace of interest rate hikes while focusing on the feasibility and associated risks of achieving the baseline scenario for economic and price outlooks. Maintaining a stable core inflation level of around 2% is deemed very important. The Bank of Japan believes that the current extent of monetary easing adjustments is appropriate, aiming for a sustainable and stable realization of the 2% price target.
