0x Analysis Reveals 54.2% of Uniswap v4 Hooks Exhibit Malicious Behavior
The DEX aggregator 0x reported that the number of malicious Uniswap v4 Hooks has significantly increased recently. Some Hooks offer attractive prices during the inquiry phase but change the execution price during actual settlement, thereby stealing user funds. 0x analyzed 84,163 Hooks across six chains and found that as of September 11, only 19.4% were deemed safe, while 54.2% were classified as malicious, and another 26.4% potentially exhibited malicious behavior. Some transactions routed through malicious v4 Hooks resulted in users receiving assets that were up to 50% lower than the quoted price. Since the beginning of this year, 0x has routed 81.92 million transactions with a trading volume of $42.67 billion, with approximately 70% of the transactions involving Uniswap liquidity. Currently, 0x has implemented measures such as detection and liquidity pool audits to prevent related malicious liquidity pools from entering the trading routes.
