OpenSea Launches Space for Tokenized Pokémon Cards

OpenSea has launched a new space dedicated to tokenized collectible cards, representing ownership of physical cards through tokens on a blockchain. The catalog includes sports cards, Pokémon, and One Piece cards, with filtering options by category or platform. The NFT market, which exceeded $16 billion in 2022, is experiencing a significant decline in monthly volumes compared to its peak in January 2022. To revive its activity, OpenSea recently added NFT trading on Solana. This launch is part of the strategy of Adam Hollander, OpenSea's marketing director, who expressed in May his intention to make tokenized collectibles, such as Pokémon cards, a driver for the next cycle of NFTs. Hollander also mentioned the need for centralized management of assets and payments in fiat currency. Users have requested information about the launch of SEA, the token promised by OpenSea, which was postponed in March.
