Hyperliquid Co-founder Claims All-Weather Trading is an Advantage of Off-Chain Finance

Hyperliquid co-founder Jeff Yan stated at the 2026 Korea Blockchain Week that all-weather trading is not the key differentiator of on-chain trading venues compared to traditional exchanges. Crypto assets inherently possess international attributes, which do not require traditional trading hours, and traditional exchanges have also begun to extend their trading times. Jeff Yan believes that the lasting advantage of on-chain finance lies in users' ability to self-custody their funds and the transparency of the system, which is particularly important when issues arise with counterparties, intermediaries, or custodians. He pointed out that for assets lacking publicly available prices during traditional exchange closures, continuous trading still holds significance, and the private placement market presents a huge opportunity for global price discovery unrestricted by any single jurisdiction.
