Animoca Brands and Currenc Group Suspend Reverse Merger Negotiations
Animoca Brands has suspended proposed reverse merger negotiations with Nasdaq-listed Currenc Group. After assessing the delivery timeline and market conditions, both parties believe that the transition period required to complete the transaction does not align with their respective short- to medium-term strategies. If conditions allow, both parties may consider resuming discussions. Animoca Brands stated that it remains committed to relisting on major exchanges and has released its audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2023 on July 17, 2026, while the audit for fiscal year 2024 is still in progress. Co-founder Yat Siu expressed that while the merger concept is valued, "corporate flexibility" remains a priority at this stage. Animoca Brands had submitted a listing application in the United States in November 2025, planning to go public on Nasdaq through a reverse merger with Singapore's Currenc Group, with an estimated valuation of approximately $1 billion.
